Kidero warns land grabbers

Nairobi County governor Dr Evans Kidero has warned private developers and land grabbers within the County that they will be dealt with accordingly.

Kidero noted that his administration does not condone grabbing of either private or public land, adding that with help of the Lands Ministry and the National Lands Commission, will revoke tittle deeds of any grabbed land, to be possessed by the County government or the Lands Ministry.

This even as the county government continues with the demolition of residential houses that were earmarked for demolition, including those on wetlands, and riparian lands, with the county government taking charge of the same pieces of land.

The demolitions have entered second day today in Huruma following an incident where a house collapsed in the area recently, killing fifty one people.

Tenants in houses that have been marked as unsafe, are required to vacate immediately before they are forcefully ejected by county officials.

KideroThe Nairobi County Government in-partnership with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Public Works, targets to bring down at least two hundred and twenty six houses in Nairobi.
