Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has called for the resignation of top national security leadership following Monday’s police brutality during Cord’s anti-IEBC peaceful protests.
Mudavadi claimed police were responding to directives from the Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, a clear indication that implementation of police reforms in the country have failed.
He noted that the two security officials should take responsibility and resign, given that many innocent civilians were brutally assaulted on the same day despite clear constitutional laws which prohibits the police from assaulting citizens.
Speaking when he met United Kingdom High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey, Mudavadi added that such police brutality paints a bad picture for the Kenyan security department at the international level.
Among other matters, the two leaders discussed issues related to the rising political temperatures in the country.
Police brutally beat up peaceful protestsers on Monday 15th in various parts of the country for allegedy participating in ‘illegal’ protests.
