Machakos primary school’s library burned

Machakos Primary School  is counting  losses following  a fire incident that left part of the school library in ashes. The school headteacher Boniface Muingi, a group of unknown people stormed the  learning institution yesterday night, tied the security guard with ropes and used petrol to burn down the school library.

He said most of the text books have burned, including school magazines and other reference documents. Police are currently instigating the incident with help of the security guard and the school management.

  • Meanwhile police in the area are pursuing a suspect believed to have defiled a minor, and escaped, while handcuffed.

The suspect is said to have jumped from a moving police vehicle, as he was being taken in custody. Residents have now been advised to report to the nearest police station if they notice any person with handcuffs, for he may use them for criminal activities.
