The Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee (PAC) says it will summon Nairobi County Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko, for interrogation for misbehaving after he started a brawl with Governor Dr. Evans Kidero last week.
PAC chairman, Kisumu Senator Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o said Sonko risks hefty legal punishment, as per theHouse Committee orders for interfering with the Committee’s sitting, and misconduct.
Nyong’o disclosed PAC wrote to Senate speaker Ekwe Ethuro, seeking directions over Sinko’s misconduct, adding that members have been given a go-ahead to grill Sonko.
He added that the Senator wasted the Committes time, and further tainted Senators name and image, for engaging in a fight with Kidero.
- Sonko accused governor Kidero of murder and corruption and exchanged abusive words before the Committee on Wednesday last week, when Kidero appeared before for grilling over usage of county funds
Kidero has since threatened to sue Senator Sonko if he does not publicly apologize to him. However Sonko claims he evidence including video footage, implicating Kidero to the murder. The two politicians are rivals for the Nairobi County gubernatorial race come August 2017. Sonko wants to succeed Kidero.
