Aladwa, Arati record statement on claims to overthrow government

Nairobi ODM chairman George Aladwa and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati have this morning  (Tuesday) appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices along Kiambu road, to record statement over allegations that they are recruiting South Sudanese nationals to destabilize the Jubilee government.

This follows claims by a University student, Wycliffe Ouma Ochieng, that Aladwa, Arati, former CORD leader Raila Odinga’s aide Caroli Omondi among other eight-opposition members used him to recruit rebels in the troubled South Sudan to team up with the opposition and overthrow president Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership.

Both Aladwa and Arati have refuted the allegations, saying they have never met their accuser.

The university student was arraigned in a Nairobi court last week following the sensational allegations, with the magistrate directing that he be taken for psychiatric tests before taking plea.
