Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has assented to the 2016/2017 Financial Year Sh10.8 billion Budget, after approval by the County Assembly.
The budget incorporates public views collected by Members of the County Assembly together with officials from the county government.
Speaking after assenting to it, Governor Mutua noted that the inclusive budget will see the county clear pending bills, develop water provisions, establish new tarmac roads, improve health services and empower the youth through training in polytechnics.
“This budget is a people-centered development projects’ budget. The budget is about changing lives by impacting on the lives of all the people of Machakos County – The Place to Be. This has been a long drawn but efficient process” Mutua said, Wednesday.
The budget will also see provision of electricity to an increased number of locals and creation of jobs through development of Machakos New City and investment programs.
“I am very excited to also, in Maendeleo Chap Chap style to be the first Governor to assent to its budget estimates for the next Financial Year. We aim to roll back poverty and create prosperity in a Maendeleo Chap Chap way.”
The County becomes the first to assent to budget estimates for the next Financial Year.
