The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) killed four Al-Shabaab militants on Wednesday morning following an operation in Boni Forest, Lamu County.
KDF spokesman Colonel David Obonyo said KDF troops repulsed an attack by the terrorists who attempted to launch an attack in Milimani area near Baure.
“The troops had been in hot pursuit of the Al-Shabaab terrorists after they conducted a probing attack on a KDF camp in Mangai- Lamu County, yesterday (Tuesday) evening,” said Colonel Obonyo.
They exchanged a fierce fire fight, that saw the four militants killed.
The troops recovered a rocket propelled grenade, two hand grenades, four AK-47 rifles and one unexploded Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
In a dispatch to newsrooms, KDF said one officer was injured in the incident and is currently under medication.
The soldiers have been on a mission to fight Al-Shabaab terrorists from Boni Forest under ‘Operation Linda Boni’, following various terrorist attacks targeting trading centres, police stations and military camps in the county.
The Ministry of Defence has indicated that it will continue the fight against the Somali based Al-Shabaab militants until they are completely eliminated and Kenya secured.
