Police in Kitui County have launched investigations into incidents where political gatherings get disrupted prematurely and attendants beaten by unknown hired gangs.
County Commissioner Boaz Cherotich said his officers are investigating two cases where a youth leader in the county was allegedly sent away from two political rallies, with the latest happening Thursday last week.
The other case happened in Mwingi East, where politicians deferred publicly, leading to disruption of a planned political rally.
Addressing the press in his office, the Commissioner noted that such goons will not be tolerated, for they pose as threats to the county’s security systems.
He has urged residents with clues of some of the suspected goons to share the information with relevant authorities for quick action.
