Transport services along the busy Jogoo Road was brought to a standstill for the better part of Thursday morning, after pupils of ShauriMoyo Primary School took to streets to protest the killing of one of their own.
Motorists could not find alternative routes to and out of town, with passengers in public service vehicles arriving to their destinations and work places late than expected.
Irate pupils barricaded the road which connects city centre and Eastlands part of Nairobi.
They claimed a matatu belonging to the Foward Travellers Sacco knocked down one of them, causing an instant death.
Police officers from ShauriMoyo and Kamukunji police stations confirmed the incident, where they said the driver of the matatu was driving at a high speed and ran, leaving the vehicle, after the unfortunate incident.
Normalcy returned in the area, as police launched manhunt for the driver.
