Two suspected robbers shot dead in Eastleigh

Police in Nairobi gunned down two suspected robbers in Eastleigh area on Wednesday morning, following a tip-off by residents.

The two were ambushed as they engaged in robbing unaware locals according to Nairobi County commandant Japheth Koome.

He said the suspected robbers started firing at the police as they tried to escape, prompting the police officers to repulse.

Koome indicated that two of the suspects managed to escape by hiding among passerbys to prevent the police from shooting at them and that officers are pursuing the two.

He confirmed that knives, a pistol and stolen property were recovered from the suspects.

  • Meanwhile three people died this morning following an accident involving a lorry and a passenger matatu along Eastern Bypass.
  • The accident which occured at Ruai fly-over left two others with serious injuries.
  • Eye witnesses said both vehicles were speeding, hence the accident.
