The County Government of Uasin Gishu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with I-Tech Kenya in a bid to support the automation of health services (E-Heath) in the County.
ICT and e-Government CeC Barnabas Sang said Health Services is part of the county’s Integrated Development Plan 2013-2018 where automation of health services was prioritized.
He advised staff in various health facilities to learn more on the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) in order to put the facilities’ services to the standards that will be emulated countrywide.
On his part, I-Tech Country Director Dr Willis Akhwale said his team will provide technical assistance for the health systems to pick up new integrations.
“Uasin Gishu County is top in provision of holistic leadership of quality care services. This is a good step towards improvement of health services for all residents. Other counties should emulate such progressive steps this county is putting in place in the health department by embracing and employing IT,” said Dr Akhwale, on Friday.
Health CeC Ms Margaret Chepkwony noted that the program will greatly improve service delivery through enhanced record keeping in all health facilities within the county.
“The partnership will aid in improving health services and will be rolled out to all sub-county health institutions.”
