Mombasa county governorship aspirant, senator Hassan Omar Hassan praised his running mate, during the announcement, Monday.

He described Linda Mariwa Shuma, praising her work, saying she was the ideal person.

Below is Omar’s speech:

I’m thrilled to announce my running mate, Linda Mariwa Shuma.

Linda is a lifelong fighter for progressive causes.

Linda’s work experience ranges from hospitality management to involvement in civil transformation
processes while at the Constitution of Kenya Review Committee. She is an entrepreneur that has run a catering and event management business, dealing with corporate and social events for several years.

A firm believer in societal based transformation Linda has through her organisation: Women
and Girls Empowerment focused on:

1.Education and mentoring of girls in high schools, a community Library and homework center, a football club, a scholarship fund and sanitary towels program.
2. Talent development and nurturing that is done through a ballet dance
class, modeling and etiquette class as well as a theatre group.
3. Economic empowerment which is realized through business incubation.

But her credentials alone aren’t why I asked her to run alongside me.
Linda’s a woman of relentless optimism who believes no problem is unsolvable if you’re willing to put in the work.

That commitment to delivering results has stayed with her throughout her life.
I have no doubt that Linda can do the job, and I want her by my side on the trail and in the Governor’s office.

But we’re going to need your help to get there. So join me and Linda, and let’s get to work and transform Mombasa. #WeNeedChange

Through his Wiper party, Omar will face ODM party’s incumbent governor, Ali Hassan Joho, in August 8, elections.
