A Non-Governmental Grganisation has sued the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and the Wiper Democratic Movement for submitting a list of only four nominees to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Angaza Empowerment Network, says the two parties violated the one-third gender rule by not including women in the list. It added that the list limited MPs from voting for the best candidate.
The organisation on Monday argued that the nomination of the four candidates did not involve public participation and therefore the process was not transparent and accountable.
The four applicants of the Raila Odinga-led ODM, include Judith Pareno, Ronald Ngeny, Abubakar Zein Abubakar and Kennedy Musyoka.
The NGO further accused Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka of nepotism for appointing his son, Kennedy, for the EALA post.
The organisation wants the nomination of the four, halted.
