Manchester Attack: Obama, Kenya’s Opposition Chief mourn

Former US President Barack Obama has joined world leaders, in condoling with the United Kingdom (UK), following a night suicide attack in Manchester.

Obama sent his message through Twitter, saying America will always stand shoulder by shoulder with the people of UK.

At least 22 people, including children were killed and 59 injured in the suicide bombing at a crowded pop concert in Manchester, the most deadly attack in Britain in a decade.

Police say attacker died after detonating ‘improvised explosive device’ in foyer of concert hall.

The horror unfolded at about 10.30pm, Monday, at the end of a concert by American singer Ariana Grande, whose music is popular with children and teenagers.

Here is Obama’s message to the UK:

Our hearts go out to those killed and wounded in Manchester. Americans will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of the UK.”

Kenya’s Opposition leader Raila Odinga also sent his message of condolence, when he met British High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, Tuesday.

The envoy paid a courtesy call to Odinga, at his Capitol Hill office where they also discussed the upcoming general election and ties between Kenya and the UK.

President Uhuru Kenyatta also sent a message of condolence to UK.

ISIS has since claimed responsibility over the attack.
