Governor Joho’s running mate speaks after unveiling

Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho’s running mate, Dr William Kazungu Kingi, has thanked the governor, for appointing him.

He said he was ready to work with the governor, and expressed optimism that the governor will win in the August 8 polls, and serve a second term.

“I want to thank my brother and my friend governor Ali Hassan Joho, for giving me lots of trust and confidence, and giving me the opportunity to be able to serve the people of Mombasa as the deputy governor, after the general elections,” Kingi said after he was unveiled, Thursday.

He hailed the ODM governor, saying he was a courageous, visionary and a committed leader.

Kingi holds a PhD in Human Resource Management (HRM) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Nairobi and a Master of Science in HRM from the same institution.

He has been a lecturer since 2008 first at JKUAT and now at Technical University of Mombasa (TUM).

The 47-year-old is also chairman of the Secretariat of the ‘Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani’ a Coast region economic bloc, a position he has held since 2014 and also the founder chairman of the Kilifi Think Tank.

“As my deputy he will also be in charge of the implementation of MV2035 amongst other key programs,” Joho said during the unveiling.
