Kilifi governor Amason Jeffah Kingi, addressed hundreds of supporters, after being cleared by the IEBC to vie, saying the journey to replace the incumbent Jubilee government has just started.
“We need a national government that will respect devolution, address historical land injustices and make available to Kenyans basic needs such as food,” he said.
“A national government that will share the national cake equitably and not based on tribal arithmetic. Only a Raila led government can guarantee this and that is why the people of Kilifi County have today resolved to rally behind Raila. Tuko ndani ndani ndaaaaaani kabisa ya Nasa,” said the governor, Thursday.
According o him, the people of Kilifi had seen the tremendous development that his government brought, and resolved to rally behind him an uninterrupted and accelerated development for the next five years.
“I am humbled and I promise to continue fulfilling the aspirations of my people. During this campaign period, I urge all candidates to campaign responsibly.”
“We need Issue based campaigns not incitement. Kilifi County is home to all the tribes found in this country. Everyone should feel at home in Kilifi County irrespective of their tribe. Let’s choose our leaders based on their track record and not based on their names on their identity cards,” said the ODM governor.
Also present was Woman Representative Aisha Jumwa, who wants to be Malindi MP, in the August 8, elections.
