The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) advertised for 362,278 vacancies ahead of the August 8 polls.

The Commission invited qualified applicants to apply for the temporary positions which have been categorised into six, by June 15, 2017.

The vacancies include:

Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers – 91,032 posts; Polling Clerks/Counting Clerks – 262, 665 posts; Logistics Officers – 337 posts; Deputy Returning Officers – 290 posts; Support Electoral Trainers (SET) – 5,054 posts; and Voter Educators (2 per CAW) – 2,900 posts.

“Closing 15th June. Only one application per person,” warned the agency, in a notice to the public.

However, many of the interested applicants said they have trying to click the given link (, in vain. They lamented that the link was not working, and asked the Commission to help the out, on how best to apply.

Below is a reaction from some of the interested applicants, on Facebook, with some saying it could be a hoax.
