HAKI Africa calls for justice as 6-year-old Jeremy is laid to rest after tragic school bus accident

Coast based human rights organisation HAKI Africa was at Pandya hospital mortuary to join the family of the late Jeremy in seeing him off.

The late Jeremy was killed after he fell through a hole of a school bus he was riding in, to school last week. He was a pupil at St Augustine’s Preparatory School, before meeting his death at Majengo.

Family and friends turned out in huge numbers to pray for the late 6-year-old kindergarten pupil and escort the body, Friday.

HAKI Africa called on the authorities to ensure justice prevails.

“Those responsible must be made to account for their mistakes and face the full wrath of the law. As an organization, HAKI Africa is calling on the Ministry of Education and NTSA to ensure proper check of all school vehicles.,” the organisation said through social media.

“My profound sympathies and heartfelt condolences go out to the Masila Family who lost their child the late Jeremy Masila in a tragic school bus incident. Mombasa mourns with you and may the Almighty grant you all strength to endure this painful loss,” said Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho when he visited the family, last week.

“As the county government we will take swift and stern measures to ensure the safety of our children in schools. May the Almighty rest the young angel’s soul in eternal peace,” he added.
