Transparency International (TI) Kenya has dismissed a report doing rounds on social media, that Opposition governors have been using billions of tax payers’ money, to fund campaigns of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

TI Kenya Executive Director Samuel Kimeu condemned the move, saying the report under (hashtag) #NaswaGateScandal, has not been authored or authorised by anyone from the organisation, and is meant to seemingly add political mileage to a few politicians.

In a statement, Kimeu said they have contacted relevant authorities to investigate persons behind the false report, for a legal action.

He added that TI remains politically neutral as guided by its values and does not lean towards any political formations.

The report which has the TI logo and name, purports that governors such as Isaac Ruto (Bomet), Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), Amason Kingi (Kilifi), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Cornell Rasanga (Siaya), Okoth Obado (Migori), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) have spent a total of Sh78.6 billion in funding the NASA leader.
